Hello and welcome to my first post on blogspot! I've been wanting to start a blog to represent the industry I work in and love so much for some time now. I'm gonna be posting my experiences, bad sense of humour and any knowledge I may possess. Hopefully you'll find this blog at least slightly interesting whether you are a hairdresser or not.
So what better way to start off than by sharing pictures from my experience at the Royal Albert Hall last year when I was priviledged enough to be chosen as a finalist for the 2009 Visionary Award. Although I was not the overall winner (1st place went deservedly so to Ken Picton), the experience itself was prize enough. Being able to walk out onstage at one of Britain's most beautiful concert halls infront of 5000 people with your own work is an amazing feeling and one that I will never forget. However the highlight for me was meeting the legend that is Vidal Sassoon (I will talk more about Vidal in future blogs). The competition was held at the charity event known as The Alternative Hair Show which is a true spectacle that anyone who cares about hair should attend at least once in their lifetime, not least because of the wonderful work it does for charity.
This was the image that got me to the final. It was based on Vidal's bold profile photographs from the 1960's.
Preparation begins
My make-up artist Lucy
An intimidating view.
My model Omie making me proud
She strutted her stuff well
I take to the stage with Omie
And finally the man himself, Vidal Sassoon.
And that's all for now. Thanks for looking and please keep checking back for plenty, plenty more in the future!!
